Remember my wonderful little wash stand that I found in my Aunt's garage? Well after MUCH love, paint stripper, sanding, repairing, and painting it's finished. I'm so pleased with it! It has so much character and hopefully it will be enjoyed for another hundred years.
Cleaning it was probably my least favorite part. It had...things...in it. First thing was to strip as much paint off as I could. This was my first try at stripping...(no not that stripping) Gawsh..... Then I talked it over with my "handy man" to see if the side where the hole was could be repaired. Sure enough, with the right tools and wood, he did it. I am so happy I didn't just leave the patch on.
Next, I painted and distressed it, applied some antique glaze, and finished it off by sealing it with my new wax paste. Love. That. Stuff. Put the original hardware back on and the marble top to finish it off. Oh! The paint color? Yeah, I got that on the "oops" shelf at Lowe's. Whoo hoo! $7.50 for an entire gallon!

ReplyDeleteYour washstand turned out so cute, Kerrie. You were so lucky to get that pretty oops paint and fortunate to have the old hardware. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteWow! Turned out beautifully! I'm featuring you again for Flaunt it Friday, thanks for linking up! :) PS: Did it have that marble top on it or did you have to buy it??
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this transformation! I would love for you to share it on my WhateverWednesday linkie party (happening now!) Hope to see you there :)
ReplyDeleteWow great transformation. I just got an old dry sink and for some reason keep thinking blue, sort of like the color you used. I'm not sure why I keep thinking blue, I don't reallly have anything blue in my apartment but I might just give blue a chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing me everything can turn out pretty.

Fabulous makeover. I love the color and how you distressed it, too! Wonderful tutorials, by the way ... I'll remember your mantra as I begin to tackle painting a sideboard (prime, paint, antique and seal)! *Becca* (your newest follower, by way of Momma Hen).
